During the wonderful British summer (all 2 weeks of it), we all love to tuck into our favourite frozen goodies, from ice lollies and frozen yoghurt to your favourite frozen cocktail. According to the British Frozen Food Federation’s Frozen Food Report 2022, “some categories, such as ice cream, have more than doubled in value” since 2005, and “ice cream is the largest single category in frozen, worth £1.3bn to retailers”.
Markets of this gravity constantly see new product development, with new vegan and dairy-free alternatives offering the latest surge in products hitting the shelves. It is important to outshine your opponents with smart and intact packaging that isn’t affected by the freezing storage temperatures. With standard hot melt adhesives at low temperatures, the adhesive film can become brittle and could crack and fail. So, it is critical to use a deep freeze dedicated product to get the best results for your frozen goods. To achieve this, you need the right adhesive to bond your packaging together, one that not only secures the goods in place but also remains intact during storage in sub-zero temperatures.
Here at Interlock Adhesives, one of our key products that can achieve this is our Technomelt Supra 350-HT. Not only is this adhesive suitable for freezer products, but it also offers a ‘high tack’ (HT) quality which means it can easily work effectively on substrates that are filmcoated or greaseproof and usually difficult to bond.
We also offer hot melt grades that not only offer successful bonds in temperatures as low as -40°C – but also with ‘cool’ grade technology where the application temperatures are reduced massively in comparison to your standard hot melt grades, improving the machinability of your hot melt tank and reducing overall emissions.
