At Interlock Adhesives, we recognise the importance of reducing CO2 emissions and creating sustainable products. As a team, we have over 60 years combined experience in adhesives, and we are committed to playing our part in creating a more sustainable and circular approach to packaging.

Read below to find out how we are moving forward to create a more sustainable future in adhesives…

Green Glue

We are proud to be able to offer our green glue that provides a more sustainable solution for end of line production. “Green” means to have a reduced impact on our global footprint by using less raw materials during production thus reducing waste and energy consumption. These green glue products have an increased bio content in their formulation, which helps make the adhesives more renewable.

Interlock Adhesives are proud to partner with local charities, such as The Community Forest Trust in order to fight climate change and we have directly sponsored the planting of 20 trees. We are also in the process of changing our cars and forklift trucks from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. Our aim is to work with our customers to help them use less glue, use less power, reduce downtime and create less waste.

So what are the benefits of green glue?

  • Improved efficiency and ultra clean running
  • Low application temperature meaning reduced emissions
  • Less waste through reduced consumption and rejects
  • Non-hazardous and consumer safe

We are now offering a brand new adhesive grade in the Supra range – our Technomelt Supra ECO. This ground-breaking product is manufactured with 81% ISCC certified bio-based material, is compatible with the paper recycling stream and contains raw materials that are responsibly sourced. The Supra Eco also has a negative carbon footprint, is certified food safe all the while maintaining outstanding performance and efficiency.

Reducing CO2

Up to 73% of greenhouse gases are emitted as a direct result of energy consumption, according to Our World of Data. This also covers areas such as transport, electricity and heat generation. There are two key areas to focus on with adhesives to have an immediate impact on your application – Adhesive mileage and Low operational temperatures.

Adhesive mileage means how far your adhesive goes. Our aim is to increase your mileage through cutting edge products so that less adhesive is consumed. By using less, this also lowers CO2 emissions from transport and production, as well as machinability due to its higher density. This allows you to use less adhesive while manufacturing the same quantities.

Our cool technology adhesives can operate as low as 95 degrees Celsius, which reduces energy consumption by 40%. Lowering application temperatures is an effective way to reduce your carbon footprint.

Plastic Reduction

At Interlock, we recognise the importance of reducing single-use plastic. Our pallet stabilisation is an innovative method which uses pressure sensitive adhesives to temporarily glue items together on a stacked pallet instead of using shrink wrap. This method can reduce plastic consumption by 90%.

Henkel have also designed a low migration adhesive called Aquence, which is a water based adhesive that is completely free of plasticisers, phalates, benzoates and Triacetin, making it completely food safe perfect for use on paper straws, it can also be recycled!

Using the correct adhesive can make a significant difference to the consumption required per application. Our Supra range has such a high density, you can use up to 30% less per unit while still achieving optimum results.
