Celebrating 25 years of Technomelt Supra

May 12, 2026 | News

Celebrating 25 years of industry leadership, Henkel’s Technomelt Supra stands as a landmark achievement in the world of high-performance hot melt adhesives. Since its debut in 2001, the Supra range has fundamentally reshaped the packaging landscape by bridging the gap between extreme technical reliability and operational efficiency. This anniversary marks more than just longevity; it honours a quarter-century of setting the global benchmark for thermal stability and clean processing. As the industry shifts its focus toward the future of manufacturing, Technomelt Supra’s legacy remains rooted in its ability to adapt, proving that a truly superior bond is one that evolves alongside the needs of the world it holds together.

Technomelt Supra Plus – 2005

The Technomelt Supra Plus line represents a premium evolution within Henkel’s flagship adhesive family, specifically engineered to tackle the most demanding challenges of high-speed industrial packaging. By building upon the core advantages of the standard Technomelt Supra range, such as thermal stability and high mileage, the “Plus” designation signifies an enhanced focus on specialised performance metrics. These formulations are optimised for superior hot tack and increased heat resistance, making them ideal for complex applications like fast-running pharmaceutical packaging, high-pressure case sealing, or bonding difficult substrates such as lacquered and printed surfaces. Essentially, the “Plus” label functions as a trouble-shooting solution, offering enhanced machinability and non-stringing characteristics that minimise equipment downtime and maintenance cycles in high-volume, critical production environments.

Technomelt Supra HT – 2006

Since its establishment in 2006, Henkel’s Technomelt Supra HT range has defined the gold standard for high-heat resistance and bonding performance, offering a premium formulation that excels in the most demanding industrial environments. The range is specifically engineered as the go-to solution for deep-freeze applications, where it maintains essential flexibility and a high-tack bond even during extreme thermal shifts that would cause standard adhesives to become brittle and fail. Beyond its cold-chain reliability, the HT range provides superior bond strength on high-challenge substrates, such as MetPol or polymer-coated boards, ensuring a strong seal on even the most difficult, low-surface-energy materials. Technomelt Supra HT is optimised for peak operational efficiency, delivering superior fibre tear and market-leading thermal stability to ensure consistent performance without the risk of charring. Designed with the strictest manufacturing requirements in mind, the Technomelt Supra HT range also offers full Food Safety Certification upon request, providing total peace of mind for even the most stringent food production environment.

Technomelt Supra Cool – 2010

The Technomelt Supra Cool range is Henkel’s premier “low-temperature” solution, specifically engineered to provide high-performance bonding while operating at significantly lower heat levels than conventional hot melts. By reducing application temperatures to as low as 100°C (compared to the industry standard of 160°C to 190°C) this range allows manufacturers to achieve energy savings of up to 50%. Beyond the environmental benefits, the “Cool” technology enhances workplace safety by minimising the risk of operator burns. This lower thermal stress also extends the service life of packaging equipment, as it virtually eliminates adhesive charring and nozzle blockages, leading to a substantial reduction in maintenance costs. Operator safety is also greatly improved due to the decrease of burn risks.

Ideal for heat-sensitive goods, chilled products, and high-speed folding box applications, the Supra Cool range combines resource efficiency with the same “Supra” reliability that has defined the brand for 25 years.

Technomelt Supra PRO – 2018

The Technomelt Supra PRO range is an industry-leading solution for the most safety-sensitive and high-demand production environments, particularly within the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries. Technomelt Supra PRO significantly reduces migration through the reduction of mineral oil in the formulation.

Engineered to go beyond standard performance, the PRO line is built upon a foundation of triple food safety evaluation, which includes rigorous testing to ensure total consumer protection. Beyond its safety credentials, this range is a workhorse of operational efficiency; it is characterised by free-flowing properties that support automatic feeding, exceptional thermal stability that eliminates charring, and precise, non-stringing application that maintains high-speed machine uptime. By combining extreme purity with superior machinability, the Supra PRO series serves as the definitive choice for production environments that require uncompromising quality, regulatory compliance, and maximum throughput in their packaging operations.

Technomelt Supra 081 Eco – 2021

Redefining sustainability in the packaging industry, Henkel’s Technomelt Supra 081 ECO is a high-performance hot melt that utilises 81% bio-based raw materials and 30% ISCC-certified mass-balanced ingredients to deliver a truly eco-conscious bonding solution. By switching to this grade, production lines can cut CO2 emissions by up to 32% – saving an estimated 7,500kg of CO2 annually, based on a 7-tonne usage rate and cradle-to-gate analysis. Beyond its material makeup, the adhesive is manufactured through CO2 neutral processes and carries Cyclos-HTP certification for full compatibility with paper recycling streams. To further drive efficiency, the range expanded in 2024 with a low-temperature “Cool” version, which reduces operating temperatures by up to 40°C and slashes energy consumption by as much as 50%.

As Henkel looks toward the future, the Technomelt Supra legacy remains a testament to the power of continuous innovation, proving that a truly superior bond is one that evolves alongside the needs of the world it holds together.
